New 20ft x 8ft Open Top Shipping Container – Removable Tarp Roof

The New 20ft x 8ft Open Top Shipping Container provides flexible access for cargo that is difficult to load through the doors of a conventional enclosed shipping container. Its open-top configuration allows machinery, equipment, construction materials and other bulky or over-height items to be loaded and unloaded vertically using suitable lifting equipment.

Unlike a standard dry container with a permanent steel roof, the open-top design uses removable steel roof bows and a weather-resistant tarpaulin cover. The cover can be removed when overhead access is required and secured again after loading. This configuration makes the container particularly useful for industrial and commercial applications involving tall, heavy or irregularly shaped cargo. The reference model uses this removable-bow and tarpaulin configuration.

The container is constructed around a robust steel frame for demanding storage and cargo-handling applications. Cargo lashing points provide locations for securing suitable loads during transportation.

At the end of the container, conventional double cargo doors provide normal ground-level access. The door header can be removed or swung away, providing additional clearance when loading large items through the end opening. Open-top ISO containers commonly use this configuration specifically for over-height cargo and crane loading.

The floor is constructed from durable marine plywood supported by steel cross members, providing a strong loading surface for machinery, equipment, materials and other suitable cargo.
